DeSantis declares White House run against Trump in glitchy Twitter launch
Ron DeSantis , the governor of Florida, will officially challenge Donald Trump for the presidency in 2024.
He chatted with Elon Musk at a Twitter Spaces event on Wednesday night despite some initial technological difficulties.
To lead our great American recovery, DeSantis said that he was running for president of the United States.
The 44-year-old is the main challenger for the candidacy of the Republican Party against former President Donald Trump.
He has prohibited transgender athletes from playing in females’ sports, restricted the teaching of sex education, and prohibited providing gender-affirming care for trans children in Florida schools.
Other Republicans running include former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, former governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson, and software entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
