Protesters took to the gates of the University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State on Monday morning to express their dissatisfaction with the country’s ongoing economic chaos.

Community members blocked the institution’s gate, preventing vehicular movement and other activities.

A student who did not want her name used told the reporter that soldiers and Operation Burst officers had arrived on the scene at the time of filing this report.

Mrs Adejoke Akinpelu, the UI’s Communication Officer, told our correspondent that the protesters had been dispersed by security personnel.

“The UI Chief Security Officer told us that some miscreants in the community gathered at the gate this morning, causing problems,” she said. Our students are taking their exams, so they are not included. I was also told that the security guards who arrived had dispersed them.”
