We’ll raise our prices of levy in line with it – GPRTU
Following the implementation of the Emissions prices, which went into effect on Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced that it will raise transportation fares.
The budget for 2024 includes an emissions prices that is consistent with the government’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage the use of green energy and eco-friendly technology.
Abass Imoro, the GPRTU’s industrial relations officer, claimed that the relevant parties, including the ministers of finance and transportation, disregarded the members’ concerns and proceeded to impose the price without answering to their petition in an Eyewitness News interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi FM.

The Emissions Levy went into effect on Thursday, February 1, 2024, and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced that it will raise transportation fares as a result.
The government’s efforts to combat greenhouse gas emissions and encourage the development of environmentally friendly technology and green energy are aligned with the Emissions Levy included in the 2024 budget.
In an Eyewitness News interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi FM, GPRTU’s industrial relations officer, Abass Imoro, claimed that the relevant stakeholders, including the ministers of finance and transportation, disregarded the concerns of the union’s members and proceeded to impose the levy without answering their petition.
