Ayisha Modi, a businesswoman and philanthropist from Ghana, has renewed her criticism of Obrafuor in the wake of the news that he was suing Drake for $10 million.

She claims to have backed the seasoned rapper’s record “Kasiebo,” but she never received a return on her investment, prompting her to file a lawsuit against others, according to Modi.

She berated the “Kae Mu Rapper” in a post on Instagram and said that she had cursed him.

“Concert party @mobrafour make sure you pay me back all the money I Ayisha Modi invested in ur Album 13 years ago before you sue someone wai,” she said on Instagram.

Continuing she said, “Nature will catch up with u walaii Ofoui. See who is suing someone. I cursed u. You will not have no peace until u come out and tell the world the truth about how I invested in ur KASIEBO ALBUM,”

The charges made by Ayisha Modi raise questions about how investors who break their promises can take advantage of artists.

“@agyekumkofi was your manager at the time, and he was the main reason I gave your project all of that cash. Until you reimburse me for my money or you come clean, I’ll be suing others to support you. Nature and karma will catch up with you, she said.

Background

As of the time of publication, Ghanaian artist Obrafuor had sued Drake for unauthorized use of his “Oye Ohene (Remix)” sample.

Drake is accused of using the sample on his song “Calling My Name,” which was later included on an album, according to the lawsuit, which asks for $10 million in damages.

Drake allegedly sent Obrafuor an email asking for permission to use the sample, but he released the tune without waiting for a response, according to Obrafuor.

The case raises significant issues regarding the usage of music samples and the need of getting consent from the original authors, even though Drake’s team has not yet reacted to it.
