Burna Boy, the Afrofusion star, has come under fire from veteran Nigerian actor Patrick Doyle, who claims that he is not deserving of the title “great” that has been bestowed upon him by both supporters and detractors.

Doyle claimed on social media that Burnaboy shouldn’t get credit for current successes in Nigerian music since the singer hasn’t achieved enough to be called great. Patrick Doyle

Burna Boy hasn’t accomplished anything by himself that could even be called amazing. He and his peers benefit from the sacrifices made by earlier heroes. They must show humility and esteem for their diligent and truly innovative forebears. Great performers from the 1960s to the 2000s included Sunny Ade, Fela Anikulapo, Majek Fashek, I. K. Dairo, and a host of others. Greatness and heroic deeds are not isolated events. Let’s avoid helping to create a conceited and annoying monster.

“The credit for the feats that appear to be puffing up the likes of Burna Boy has to be properly ascribed to the greats who cleared the thorny paths that have created pathways for his likes to walk through practically effortlessly,” he wrote.

The ‘Outsiders,’ Burna Boy’s devoted fan following, erupted in outrage on social media as soon as the message became viral, defending their hero.
