Two new artificial turf fields have been inaugurated, this time in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Otchere Baafi, and other dignitaries accompanied Dr. Bawumia, who is starting a campaign tour of the Eastern Region, to commission the astroturfs.

Both commissions took place in the New Juaben South Constituency, with the first taking place on Sunday at the Sarkodie school park and the second on Monday at the Methodist school park in Betom.

Vice President Bawumia said in a statement following the commissioning of the parks that the government has been dedicated to supplying artificial turf around the nation since 2017 to enhance both professional and amateur sports.

Assuring that more artificial turf fields are being built across the nation in response to rising demand, he urged the facilities’ beneficiaries to make good use of them.

Since 2017, the Akufo-Addo administration has constructed more than 120 artificial turf fields all around Ghana. There were only two public astroturfs in the nation before the government took power.
