Former Ghana youth star Ransford Osei’s assertions have been denied by Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong. GFA

The retired striker said that he sent Acheampong $20,000 in order for him to be included in the Black Stars squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, accusing Acheampong of misappropriating the funds.

In a strong response via social media, Acheampong expressed great astonishment and dismay at what he calls Osei’s “unfounded claims.”

He emphatically rejects any wrongdoing and challenges Osei to present payment proof for the claimed transaction. Acheampong has issued a severe warning that if Osei fails to show evidence to back up his assertions, he will face legal action, including defamation charges.

Having served as Kessben FC’s Marketing and Communications Director, Acheampong underlined his professionalism in assisting Osei’s football career during their meetings. He believes that Osei’s job difficulties should not be blamed on outside circumstances.

Osei told Doc Royal Sports in an extended interview that Acheampong instructed him to use the money to curry favor with prominent football players, securing his participation in the World Cup squad. Despite cooperating and paying the money, the promised arrangements were allegedly never realized, causing his sporting career to suffer.

Acheampong emphatically denies Osei’s assertions, claiming that he never requested or got $20,000 from Osei for any reason. He demands that Osei produce evidence or issue a retraction and apologize for the “spurious allegation.”
