The FIFA World Cup 2034 host nation, Saudi Arabia, has the official backing of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

With the deadline for entries fast approaching on October 31, Saudi Arabia has set its sights on hosting the coveted tournament in response to FIFA’s call for proposals from Asia and Oceania.

“Ghana Football Association stands with our friends at Saudi Arabian Football Federation as they embark on their journey to host the 2034 FIFA World CupTM,” the Ghana Football Association said in a statement. We are thrilled to support #Saudi2034’s mission, motivated by the fervor of their followers and inspired by their incredible metamorphosis. Our shared vision is to create an amazing competition that uses the beautiful game to bring people from all around the world together.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s candidacy for the 2034 World Cup is part of a larger plan to become a global leader in sports. Since 2018, the country has effectively hosted a number of sporting events, such as boxing, football, and Formula 1.

With Ghana’s support, the number of federations endorsing Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2034 event rises to above 70.

The GFA maintains a robust and cordial connection with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for “mutual benefits” in December 2022 strengthened this relationship even more.

Kurt Okraku was congratulated by Saudi football chief Yasser H. Almisehal on his victory in his reelection as GFA President earlier this month.
