According to reports, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II would visit regions of the Ashanti Region where Galamsey , or unlawful small-scale mining, is still taking place.

He promised to take the chiefs in the affected districts to task for failing to stop the practice in its tracks.

He made it clear that the administration cannot resolve the Galamsey problem on its own.

He claimed that in order to overcome the difficulty, all parties involved, including the leaders, must work together.

He declared that he would hold the Chiefs in the impacted areas accountable when touring the galamsey areas in the Ashanti Region.

He remarked, “Illegal logging and illegal mining continue to affect our forest, which means that government cannot do it alone, we must all get involved and support the government,” on May 17, when the 2023 Green Ghana project was unveiled.

“Galamsey has taken over the area in Amansie, and my chiefs know I have been talking about this, so I am not happy about this,” he continued. They should not be in charge over there if they are sitting there and are unaware of what is going on, I tell them.

“These are issues that we will revisit; we must enforce it, and I must begin with my chiefs before the government takes care of the other issues. We must all take this seriously and put an end to this situation.I’m going to drive from Amansie to Manso Nkwanta in those regions. All the chiefs in that region might be forced to explain why if I end there.
