Ghana defeats the United States in Africa Basketball Festival final
In the Africa Basketball Festival on Sunday, Team Ghana defeated a select team from the United States with a final score of 48-33 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Following the fierce struggle between the University of Ghana and Accra Technical University, in which the latter prevailed, all eyes were on the match between Ghana and the United States.
Ghana advanced to the final by defeating Togo by a score of 43-32, while Team USA advanced after defeating France by a score of 21-17.
The final saw both countries’ abilities and skills on display as they competed for the coveted championship trophy.
After four quarters of thrilling basketball, the host country, Ghana, emerged triumphant, defeating their American rivals 48-33. Notably, the Spintex Knights combination of James Amotoe and Treasure Botchway played critical roles in Ghana’s victory.
Albert Ato Sam, Ghana’s coach, expressed his team’s motivation to face the United States, citing the country’s reputation in the sport. He highlighted that his team was determined to win and that they would go all out in front of their home crowd. Coach Sam praised the great level of basketball displayed during the game.
Treasure Botchway, Ghana’s captain, expressed the joy of victory and commended his squad for their comeback midway through the play. Team Ghana’s triumph over Team USA is a notable accomplishment in the African Basketball Festival.
