Messi returns to training with PSG despite suspension
Despite being placed on indefinite suspension by the team for traveling to Saudi Arabia without permission, Messi has resumed training with PSG.
The two-week suspension from the team has been lifted, and the Argentine superstar is back in the gym.
The team tweeted on Monday, “Leo Messi back in training this Monday morning,” implying that the suspension may have been removed.
Messi on Friday issued an apology to his PSG teammates, saying “I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always. I had this trip organized and I couldn’t cancel it. I had already cancelled it before…”
He added, “I apologize to my teammates and I’m waiting for what the club wants to do with me.”
Meanwhile, PSG manager Christophe Galtier has distanced himself from Messi’s suspension, stating that he had “nothing to do with” the decision.
He also condemned fan protests outside players’ homes, saying, “Leo’s suspension has added to poor performances, we can’t hide behind that.
PSG won 3-1 at Troyes on Sunday to edge closer to the French title.
