After apparently requesting a move to leave Arsenal, former Black Stars defender John Paintsil has advised Thomas Partey to find a team that he will be very happy playing for when deciding his next destination.

According to reports in England, Mikel Arteta, the manager of the club, reluctantly agreed to the midfielder’s request to leave. Since then, Juventus of the Italian Serie A and a Saudi Arabian club, which is reportedly willing to offer the 30-year-old a lucrative contract, have both expressed interest in the player.

Paintsil advised the Arsenal midfield enforcer to follow his heart and make sure he choose a team that would offer him ample playing time, even though a move to Saudi Arabia appears more likely. He emphasized the value of being prepared for national team call-ups and recommended that Partey make a choice that will allow him to play for both his club and the squad at the same time.

The now-retired Paintsil emphasized that Partey held the final say despite offers made by agents and counseled the Arsenal star to engage in serious self-reflection and select a team where he would feel at home and receive plenty of playing time because he personally suffered the effects of insufficient playing time during his career.

Football is a serious sport; it’s not simply something you do for fun. As a player, you need consider if the team you’re considering joining will give you adequate playing time.

You should always be prepared for a national call-up if you are a member of the national team. So, the choice is up to the player if joining Juventus will help him get enough playing time to be ready or joining Saudi to get enough playing time to play for the national team,” said Paintsil, who played for English Premiership teams Fulham, West Ham United, and Leicester City between 2006 and 2012.

Paintsil, who played in 89 games for Ghana, emphasized the value of consistent playing time in maintaining peak performance and being prepared for national team obligations. He counseled Partey to think about his happiness and trust his gut when picking the best choice for his job.

Paintsil emphasized that Partey’s plans to play for the national team would not be hampered by signing with a Saudi Arabian club.

As the team pursues significant summer acquisitions for midfielders Declan Rice from West Ham and Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Partey, who is supposedly the highest-paid player at the London club with a salary in excess of £200,000 a week, is reportedly extremely close to leaving Arsenal.

In order to provide stability behind attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard, Arteta’s midfield in 2022–23 was composed of Partey and Xhaka.

However, the club’s pursuit of Rice as a holding midfielder, along with Odegaard and Havertz, could potentially move Partey lower on Arteta’s priority list in his efforts to bolster the squad for another Premier League title challenge, after he let Manchester City win the competition with two games left.

Partey’s agents reportedly reached a personal contract with Juventus last week, according to news reports. After the club’s French midfielder Adrien Rabiot decided to extend his stay, the Italian superpowers appeared to have lost interest in the Ghanaian sensation.
