Big wins at the 88th Ghana Golf Open competition go to Manasseh, Awuni, and Karanga.

Sensational Augustine Manasseh, a Ghanaian professional golfer, won the Professional event in the recently concluded 88th Ghana Open Golf Tournament at the Centre of the World Golf Club in Tema, securing his fourth victory of the year.

Manasseh won the competition organized by the Ghana Golf Association by shooting a 281 at seven under par.

His three-under-par 69 on the second day of the four-day competition, which helped him win by one stroke over his rivals, sealed his victory.

With scores of 282 each, Enoch Kofi Owusu and Vincent Torgah placed second. 88th

Manasseh reminisced on what he called his biggest triumph since going pro less than a year ago in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

He added that he was looking forward to competing with the top golfers in Africa and abroad next year and that his biggest problem, aside from his opponents, was the wet weather.

Amateur Activity

Michael Karanga, the top amateur golfer in Kenya, finished with a score of six under 210 to win the men’s amateur division.

Karanga, a member of the Kenyan golf clubs Ndumberi and Kiambu, scored an outstanding round of five under par 67 on the final day of the 54-hole competition to claim his first international victory. 88th

Rickie Hurtubise, a star junior golfer, was defeated by him by five strokes. The young golfer bounced back from a poor first-round score of 81 to shoot 71 and 73 in the final two rounds for a combined gross score of 225.

Ladies contest

Constance Awuni, a member of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, won the Ladies Championship with an overall score of 242.

She defeated Jessica Tei (258) and Bernice Esi Dzitorwoko (253) to take second and third place, respectively.

Other notable victors included Dawda Mahama, the Senior Professional winner, Vivian Dick, the Ladies Support winner, Anthony Tang, the Handicap Men winner, and Michael Nyarko, the winner of the Handicap Men competition.
