Manchester City defeated Chelsea in a celebratory game at Etihad Stadium to win their third straight Premier League championship.

After Nottingham Forest defeated Arsenal on Saturday, City were crowned champions without even taking the field. This allowed manager Pep Guardiola to make nine changes from the team that hammered Real Madrid to go to the Champions League final.

Julian Alvarez, filling in for the rested Erling Haaland, gave City the lead after 12 minutes with a precise finish as their ecstatic supporters waited for the trophy presentations and celebrations.

As the game progressed, Chelsea had some of the better opportunities, with Conor Gallagher headed against the post and City’s backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega save from Raheem Sterling when he was clean through.

With the FA Cup final at Wembley and the Champions League final in Istanbul still to come, City sealed another victory as they continued their unrelenting run that has earned them the title and the opportunity to win the Triple.
