“GES Initiates Investigation into Tragic Passing of Aburi Girls SHS Student”
The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it has initiated an internal investigation into the tragic death of a first-year student of the Aburi Girls’ Senior High School.
In order to carry out an impartial investigation into the situation, it added that it is actively working with law enforcement.
On Monday, February 5, 2024, Stacey Okyere, the student, tragically passed away. She had been complaining of severe stomach pains.
The school nurse allegedly accused her of repeatedly pretending to be ill, leading to her being denied medical attention.
According to reports, she was rushed to the hospital, but tragically, when they arrived, she was already dead.
The management of the school has come under heavy fire due to the peculiar circumstances surrounding the incident, which the family claims were caused by negligence.
GES sent its condolences to the deceased’s family in a statement that was made public on Monday.
