After a spirited triumph in today’s semi-final, Opoku Ware School, often known as OWASS, made a big step toward winning their third National Science and Maths Quiz title. NSMQ

After winning the NSMQ championship in 1997 and 2002, the passionate Santasi students showed a level of skill that was too great for their rivals, Pope John Senior High School & Minor Seminary and Prempeh College, in the day’s second semi-final.

Opoku Ware School prevailed in a closely fought match by a narrow two points, guaranteeing their place in the championship game.

Prempeh College – 36

Pope John’s – 36

Opoku Ware – 38

This thrilling semifinal demonstrated the extraordinary expertise and skill of these elite universities. With their victory, Opoku Ware School will now go on to play fellow two-time champion Achimota School in the highly anticipated final match for the coveted NSMQ championship.

On October 6, 2023, the 30th anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz began.

This year’s NSMQ, which is an exciting feature of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, is being held in two different locations: National Theatre in Accra and KNUST in Kumasi.

For the first time ever, the National Championship is being held in two regions thanks to this historic event. The competition’s four preliminary stages are held at KNUST, while the National Theatre will host the grand finale.
