LGBTQ+ does not have space in Ghana’s culture — Islamic group
An organization that seeks to safeguard Ghanaian cultural values, Islamic morality, and the welfare of future generations has urged all citizens to work to have the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021, quickly passed into law.
It claimed that if passed, the measure will provide appropriate human sexual rights and uphold Ghanaian family values, outlawing and criminalizing behaviors connected to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ) and providing support and protection for LGBTQ victims.
It would be wrong to impose a foreign philosophy on a group of people who reject it, according to the organization Agbadzena Muslim Youth Movement, because homosexuality and its related ideas have no place in the nation’s culture or ethnic groups across the 16 regions. LGBTQ+
“It is incompatible with the democratic values of independent states, including Ghana.
This release will send a very strong message to the leadership of our beloved country to support the decision to adopt this pending Bill on the anti LGBTQ+ 2021 into law, it was stated at a press conference held in Accra last Saturday. It is contrary to the natural norm of justice.
An open discussion with Christian and Islamic leaders was held as part of the event, which was planned in cooperation with the Concerned Citizens of Ghana, to educate the public, especially youngsters, about the negative effects of participating in such acts. LGBTQ+
Dedication, Ungodly
Abubakar Alhassan, the movement’s spokesperson, declared that the group would take all legal step necessary to achieve the Bill’s passage.
Joseph K. Frimpong, the District Youth Leader of the Church of Pentecost (COP) in Kotobabi, urged people to refrain from taking part in such actions because God had threatened to curse and destroy any nation that would do so. He supported his argument by citing Genesis chapter 19, which tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. LGBTQ+
“When you take a closer look at this, you’ll see that it’s something God doesn’t approve of, and Leviticus attests to the fact that those who partake in it are not pardoned. LGBTQ+
Therefore, our generation won’t displease God, he continued.
The National Chief Imam wholeheartedly supported the Bill’s passing into law, according to Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, the National Chief Imam’s spokesperson, since according to Islamic doctrine, any activity relating to the LGBTQ community is wholly abhorrent.
He praised the movement and individuals for publicly endorsing the Bill, such as Speaker of the Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and added that despite some very wealthy and powerful organizations pushing the ideology through ideas like education and human rights, they persisted in holding their ground. LGBTQ+
Is-Hak Sulleman Naaba Sigirie I, the Greater Accra Mushie Chief, stated that the LGBTQI+ community would organize a protest at all faith-based institutions if individuals or organizations providing support to or working with the LGBTQI+ community were not severely punished to discourage people from engaging in it.
“We are urging all well-intentioned Ghanaians to use their media to promote opposition to LGBTQI+ activities. And to all individuals promoting or engaging in these behaviors, would you still be alive today if your parents hadn’t given birth to you? He inquired.
