Erling Haaland’s goal smashed Bayern Munich’s hopes of a comeback, setting up a Champions League semifinal matchup with holders Real Madrid.

After losing the first leg 3-0, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel believed his team needed a miracle to advance, and they missed numerous chances to get back into the game.

After Ederson had stopped Kingsley Coman’s shot at the opposite end, Haaland quickly countered and made them pay by slamming home a shot into the top corner to complete the attack.

The Norwegian scored his 48th goal for City this year with that effort, although earlier in the match he missed a penalty when Dayot Upamecano was fouled.

Upamecano, who was also easily defeated for the 57th-minute goal, had a nightmare similar to the first leg last week.

Early in the game, the French center back was penalized with a red card for a deliberate foul on Haaland, but it was overturned because the City striker was offside.
