On September 29, the historic Odwira 2023 Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship will take place.
The Odwira 2023 Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship, an annual spectacular sponsored by the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), will take place outside of Accra for the very first time this year in a ground-breaking move.
This hotly contested competition, which will take place on September 29 in the lovely village of Akropong in the Eastern Region, pits competitors against one another for the honor of being the best bodybuilder in the nation as well as prizes in the female bikini and male physique divisions.
The collaboration between GBFA, the Odwira festival organizers, and Fitnation is evident in this substantial venue change to the Odwira Village at the Akropong School of the Blind.
At the event’s launch in Accra, George Fausta Baffoe, vice president of the GBFA, revealed that more than 30 committed bodybuilders are expected to compete for a variety of highly sought-after awards, including trophies, medals, cash prizes, professional cards, and the prestigious chance to join the Black Muscles, the country’s bodybuilding team.
Men’s Light Weight Bodybuilding, Men’s Middle Weight Bodybuilding, Men’s Heavyweight Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique over 176cm, Men’s Physique below 176cm, and Female Physique are among the categories included in the tournament. Before the main event, a riveting Strongman competition that ends with the coronation of Mr. Odwira will take place.
Abdul Hayye Yartey, president of the GFA, added that the Black Muscles members will have the honor of representing Ghana at the 2024 African Championship as well as the World Bodybuilding Championship scheduled for November in Spain.

The CEO of Fitnation, Eric Amoako Twum, expressed hope about the effects of the collaboration between the GBFA and the Odwira festival and predicted a good change in attitudes and preconceptions around bodybuilders in Ghana.
