Oscar Provencal, a seasoned actor, has urged the government to offer money to series and short-form content producers.

The Inspector Bediako actor claims that everyone who creates series or short skits for social media contributes to the local film industry because everyone involved in these fields is involved in the film industry.

Oscar Provencal was a panelist on TV3’s New Day, which was moderated by Berla Mundi and featured Abraham Ohene-Djan and Peter Sedufia, a film producer.

In addition, Oscar Provencal cautioned Ghanaians from equating their country’s film industry with that of Nigeria because they are vastly different from one another: “Look at Nigeria’s population and the number of movies they produce in a year and compare it to ours here.”

‘’There is no point comparing the two industries because they are world’s apart and one has far advanced than the other so kindly stop the comparisons,’’ he stated.

Oscar Provencal’s call come on the wake of the decline of the Ghanaian movie industry and at a time where some local movie producers especially the ones from Kumawood have resorted to producing short skits for YouTube and television series.

Oscar Provencal has been around for over three decades and has graced our screens with his brilliant acting. He is especially known for his role as Inspector Bediako in the television detective series titled Inspector Bediako.
