Arsenal defeated Man City on penalties to claim Community Shield
Following an exhilarating 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta complimented his team’s tenacity. Fabio Vieira’s superb penalty kick gave the Gunners the win in the shootout and the trophy.
Arsenal dominated the game for the first 40 minutes, but Stefan Ortega of City stopped new signing Kai Havertz’s chances on goal. Cole Palmer of Manchester City scored the game’s first goal in the 77th minute with an incredible strike from just inside the box.
Leandro Trossard of Arsenal did, however, level through a Manuel Akanji deflection in the 101st minute, extending the game owing to extra time given for injury-related stoppages.
