Accident at Gomoa Okyereko: 16 people died
On Tuesday morning on the Accra-Cape Coast route, a horrifying Accident near Gomoa Okyereko claimed the lives of sixteen individuals.
A bus with the license plate GT 5866-L and a fuel tanker with the license plate WR 2063-10 were both involved in the collision.
Injured
At the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, almost 20 additional victims of the dawn accident [May 30, 2023] are undergoing care.
According to information obtained by Rapid News GH , the fuel tanker was heading to Apam while the people on the bus were going from Liberia to the Buduburam camp.
Both drivers are conscious and receiving care at the hospital in Winneba.
According to Division Officer I, Abdul Wasiu Hudu, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, the Winneba Fire Station got a distress call on Tuesday at around 5:15 a.m. reporting an accident at Gomoa Okyereko.
According to DOI Hudu, the accident’s cause was still under investigation.
About three hours were spent at the scene by the rescue team from GNFS and the Ghana Ambulance Service freeing trapped people, which resulted in heavy traffic on that section of road.
Drivers and other road users were urged by DOI Hudu to use caution and cooperation.
