Akufo-Addo departs for a state visit to Portugal.
On Monday, July 17, 2023, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo departed from Ghana on an official visit to the Republic of Portugal at the request of H.E. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal.
On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, while in Lisbon, the President will take part in the EurAfrican Forum, which is hosted by the Portuguese government.
On the invitation of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM), he will also visit Italy for the 4th ECAM Annual Summit, which will take place from July 23–24, 2023. While there, he will meet with H.E. Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, to discuss issues of mutual interest to the two nations.
He was accompanied by the Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister of Foreign Affairs; the Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defense; the Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education; the Hon. Bryan Acheampong, Minister of Agriculture; as well as representatives from the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry.
On Monday, July 24, 2023, President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana, and in his absence, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would serve in his place in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
