Ejura: Policeman killed by robbery suspects

During a shoot-out to stop a robbery attempt on a mobile money vendor in Ejura, Ashanti Region, a police officer was shot and critically injured.

The Police Administration has not revealed the identity of the dead, Sergeant Ahmed Kamal, whose service number was 42250, or the other police officer who was shot during the gun exchange with the robbers.

After Kamal and his coworker were brought to a hospital, Kamal was declared dead upon arrival.

Two suspected thieves who allegedly engaged the police in a gunfight while the operation was underway to put a halt to a planned robbery attack on the mobile money vendor at Ejura have been taken into custody, according to a police statement released on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Since then, Ibrahim Abubakari and Alhaji Wahab Suleiman have been recognized as the suspects.

Under police protection, the two robbery suspects, who also suffered bullet wounds during the gunfire exchange with the police, are reportedly receiving medical attention.

They are currently on the run from one of their accomplices who participated in the gunfire with the police officers who were trying to stop the planned robbery attack on the mobile money dealer.

In order to apprehend the accomplice and bring him before the law, the police claimed to have launched a manhunt.

According to the statement, weapons recovered from the suspects at the scene were a used B8 cartridge, six live BB cartridges, two SB shotguns, and a pump-action rifle.

The things that were found would be presented as evidence when the suspects were being prosecuted.
