In the Western Region’s Moseaso community, which is part of the Amenfi West Municipality, three armed robbers were burned to death.

Eight robbers attacked the neighborhood and killed Frank Arthur, a 51-year-old gold dealer, by shooting him. This infuriated the locals, who reacted angrily.

Richard Arthur’s brother said he received a distress call saying his brother had been shot by armed robbers in an interview with Kaakyire Kofi Badu of Ahobrase FM in Asankragwa.

I called my brother around 6:30 am, but he didn’t pick up. I then requested someone to check the mining site to see if he was there. I arrived there right after after receiving word that my brother had been shot by armed robbers around ten minutes later. He was confirmed dead upon arriving at the hospital, so I immediately went and took him there,” he said.

He claimed that he was still at the hospital when he learned that some young people in the neighborhood had apprehended several of the armed thieves.

“I received a call from the community informing me that three of the armed robbers had been captured while I was still at the hospital making arrangements for my brother’s body. When I later got in the neighborhood, I saw that they had all three of the victims burned to death,” he continued.

He claims that the burned-out armed robbers are well-known locals who are also ex-offenders.

“They have terrorized people in our neighborhood. Some of them are former criminals who are well-known figures in our neighborhood. We trust the police to quickly apprehend those who are evading arrest because they are from nearby villages, he continued.

Kaakyire Kofi Badu told Connect FM that the armed robbers’ leader and four others are currently on the run.

The three dead, he continued, have been placed in the Asankragwa Catholic Hospital as police continue their hunt for the others.

Residents gathered to get a sight of the burned victims’ remains, which were visible laying at the bucket of a pickup truck.
