President swears in 5 ministers, deputy into office
At the Jubilee House in Accra on Tuesday, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo swore in three ministers, two ministers of state, and a deputy minister, saying that even though they were joining the government 19 months before its term was set to expire, there was still time for them to make a difference and significant contributions.
He stated that was clearly made feasible by their range of abilities, knowledge, and skills.
The ministers are Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Bryan Acheampong, Minister of Food and Agriculture; and Kobina Tahir Hammond, Minister of Trade and Industry.
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State for Finance, Osei Bonsu Amoah, Minister of State for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, and Dr. Stephen Amoah, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, make up the remaining group.
The President administered the oaths of office, secrecy, and allegiance, and he also handed each of them a scroll of office.
Hard work
To prepare for a robust economic recovery, President Akufo-Addo declared that the nation would shortly reach a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
We all have a responsibility to ensure that we return to the era of rapid economic development that prevailed prior to the COVID-19 outbreak and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he continued.
He emphasized to the new hires the value of integrity in their work and urged them to never forget the solemn pledge that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) membership had made to serve the Ghanaian people honestly and competently, both collectively and individually.
He claimed that they had been invited to the official appointments in order to serve the public and not to advance their own interests.
The President also urged them to promptly submit their asset declarations and conduct themselves in a way that avoids controversy.
He added that as Executive members, what they did would decide the NPP’s fortunes in the ensuing and succeeding decades.
Indicating that they had been carefully selected for their portfolios based on their educational and professional backgrounds, life experiences, and characters, he explained that the success of their work would be seen in the effort they put forth.
Their appointment, according to President Akufo-Addo, represents a chance for them to serve their country in a more important role. He advised them to take advantage of this opportunity with humility and grit, and to perform while always remaining under the direction of the Almighty God.
Gratitude
On behalf of the group, Mr. Asamoah Boateng praised the President for the honor bestowed upon them and assured him that they would put in a lot of effort to support the government in achieving its goal of developing the nation.
