“Some individuals started taking money from the site while the hunt was going on. One of the guys observed enormous amounts of cash. He initially withdrew a portion of the money to a secure location before deciding to return for more.

The police officers present at the scene recognized him and stopped him from stealing anymore, recovering all the money. Over GH55,000 was realized after counting it, he said.

He continues by saying that some of the funds were later utilized to pay for the injured victims’ medical bills.

“It was even good that we found that money because it’s the same thing we have been using to pay all the hospital bills of those injured,” he continued.

The company whose quarry site experienced the explosion, according to Western Region Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, was working without a license.

He revealed that the company’s owners will be held accountable for the explosion’s tragic consequences as a result of their actions.
