NPP will launch Party School for ideological instruction and leadership development
A party school will be established by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with the goal of fostering leadership development and advancing the party’s mission to create a free and prosperous society.
The National Youth Wing of the NPP, led by Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the party’s national chairman, announced this effort last Thursday at the University of Professional Studies in Accra during a Mentorship Forum.
The party school would provide a venue for providing essential training and education to NPP members aiming for leadership roles within the party and the government. It will also be in charge of doing innovative research to advance the party’s goals.
As part of celebrations for the party’s 31st anniversary, Mr. Ntim provided an update on the school’s establishment and revealed that a national secretariat had already been established. Right Honorable Aaron Mike Oquaye, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, will preside over the governing council, and Professor Bondzie Simpson, a former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), will serve as the institution’s rector.
He said that the school’s emphasis will be on instilling in its students a center-right perspective as well as the party’s key beliefs and principles. The school, according to Mr. Ntim, intends to develop students from academic institutions like TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy) and give them leadership qualities appropriate for the twenty-first century.
“Almost all of the necessary preparations have been made as of this moment. For the school, we have established a nationwide secretariat. Right Honorable Aaron Mike Oquaye, the recently-departed Speaker of Parliament, would serve as the governing council’s chairman, Mr. Ntim stated.
The party also named Professor Bondzie Simpson, the most recent rector of GIMPA, as the rector of the school.
Stephen Ayesu Ntim described his vision for the school, saying that in the medium to long term, elected officials and appointees at different party levels, as well as appointees and potential appointees in an NPP government, would receive training at the party school.
“The party school will provide the majority of the leadership training for party members who aspire to take positions of leadership in the party and the government. He highlighted that the institution is also expected to do cutting-edge research in support of the party’s objective of establishing a free and prosperous society.
“In addition, as part of its long-term objectives, the school will be committed to identifying and developing students from our educational institutions like TESCON and instilling in them fundamental center-right values that support the NPP political establishment as well as the kind of leadership that resonates with the 21st century.
In practice, the party school will primarily focus on instructing its students in party philosophy, political and communication strategy, fundamental values, and the ideologies of JB Danquah, Simeon Dombo, and Kofi Abrefa Busia, among others.
As well as elected party officers and appointees at the national, regional, and constituency electoral areas and polling station levels, training at the party school is anticipated to take place in the medium to long term for appointees and potential appointees in an NPP government.
He encouraged young individuals to take full advantage of the party school once it is launched
